La galerie Alberta Pane présente « The Last Supper », la première exposition personnelle de l’artiste Eleonora Aguiari en France. En se référant à La Cène de Leonard de Vinci, qui inspire constamment son travail depuis quelques années, l’artiste analyse les questions de spiritualité et de transcendance. Ici, la référence n’est pas iconographique mais émotionnelle. L’installation-sculpture centrale et les dessins préparatoires invitent l’observateur à s’affranchir du temps, pour tenter de comprendre les dynamiques qui ont marqué cette soirée singulière. Eleonora Aguiari se place comme le témoin actif du lien entre art contemporain et dimension non matérielle de l’existence humaine, cherchant à multiplier les possibilités d’interaction entre les deux champs. Dans « The Last Supper » la tension qui accompagne les paroles du Christ « En vérité, je vous le dis, l’un de vous me livrera » est le point de départ de l’artiste vers un chemin de légitimation de l’expérience mystique liée à l’art.

Eleonora Aguiari est une artiste italienne qui a vécu à Londres pendant 15 ans, où elle a étudié, entre autres, au Royal College of Art. Très présente sur la scène artistique londonienne, elle a réalisé plusieurs installations publiques dont l’emballage au « red tape » de la statue de Lord Napier de Magdala en 2004 qui suscita un vif intérêt de la part des londoniens ; ainsi que « Red church », sculpture permanente située à Bishops Square qui représente la silhouette de l’église de Spitalfields peinte en rouge brillant. En 2005, elle est l’une des artistes sélectionnées pour la première du BLOC show, promu par Bowieart à County Hall Gallery à Londres. L’artiste vit à Paris depuis 2009 et a présenté, à l’occasion de la Nuit Blanche 2010, une installation étonnante dans l’église de Saint- Germain-des-Prés.

Alberta Pane Gallery presents « The Last Supper », artist Eleonora Aguiari´s first solo show in France. Referencing Leonardo da Vinci´s Ultima Cena, which has inspired her work for many years, the artist explores the questions of spirituality and transcendence. In this exhibition, the reference is not iconographical, but emotional.

The central installation and the preliminary drawings invite the observer to free oneself from time and space, to try to understand the dynamics that defined that unique night. Eleonora Aguiari positions herself as an active witness to the connection between contemporary art and the sensible dimension of human existence, striving to enhance the possibility of interaction between the two fields. In « The Last Supper » the tension that accompanies the words of Christ « I tell you the truth, one of you will betray me » is the artist´s starting point toward a path that legitimize the mystical experience linked to the art.

Originally from Italy, Aguiari lived in London for 15 years where she studied at the Royal College of Art. A strong presence on the London art scene, she created several public installations including the wrapping in red tape of the statue of Lord Napier of Magdala (2004), which aroused an ardent interest among Londoners; and « Red Church », a permanent silhouette sculpture installed in Bishops Square of Spitalfields Church covered in bright red paint. In 2005, she was one of the artists selected for the first BLOC show, presented by Bowieart at the Country Hall Gallery in London. The artist has lived in Paris since 2009 and showed a grand installation in the Saint−German-des−Prés Church during the Parisian event Nuit Blanche 2010.
